25k winners: Jodee Adams-Moore (also 5 mile female winner) and Daniel Gamble
Mackenzie Cameron, 5 mile male winner
James Varner, male winner 50k
Caroline Schuman, female 50k winner
We decided that the 5 mile course is so cool that people would be missing out if they didn't do once, three times, or six times!  For the 25k, runners do the course route 3 times.  6 times for the 50k.  Sound like fun? We think so!

Registration: sign up for 5 mile, 25k, and 50k at DATABAR

Series Scoring for the 25k and 50k distance: only the first repeat of the 5 mile course will count toward series points for runners in the 25k and 50k distance.  There will be locally made mugs for the 5mile winners, 25k winners and the 50k distance winners (top man and woman).

Race Distances: 5 mile, 25k, 50k

Directions to the Start: The start will be at the Squires Lake Trailhead, on Old Highway 99.  Take I-5 Exit #242 and drive east 3/4 of a mile to the well-signed trailhead "Squires Lake Trailhead" and parking area.

Parking: As usual, parking close to the start is limited.  Carpooling is highly recommended.  Parking will be along Old HWY 99.  Arrive early enough that you can park and walk to the start and pick up your bib number.

Start: All races start at 10am at the Squires Lake Trailhead.  Cut off for 50k will be 8 hours, or 6pm. Sorry, no early start for the 50k.

Check In/ Day of Race Registration/ Bib Pickup: 8:30-9:45.  All runners must check in and pick up their race bibs.  We will have day of race registration, add $10 to race fee.

About the Course: (scroll down for detailed maps) Alger Alp, aka "Little Baldy" is a super cool peak right by the city of Alger.  For those of you who don't know Alger, it's just South of Bellingham, about a 15 minute drive.  The peak reaches 1,293 feet and has an incredible view of Mt. Baker on a clear day.

5 mile Info: The 5 mile race climbs up to Squires lake, then continues up to the top of Alger Alp.  This is a really fun climb with incredible views of Mt. Baker.  After climbing Alger Alp, runners will descend and run around the Beaver Pond and Squires Lake to finish at the Squires Lake Trail head Parking Lot off Old Hwy 99.

25k Info: Same start time as 5 mile (10am).  Sorry, no early start.  The 25k distance will be 3 repeats of the 5 mile course.  The 5 mile course is just over 5 miles (5.2), so the 25k will be 15.6  miles.   Runners will climb up Alger Alp and descend back into the parking lot at Squires Lake Trail head where there will be an aid station and they will get "Checked off" for each loop they do by aid station volunteers. This means there will be an aid station every 5.2 miles.  You may leave a drop bag at this location.  The elevation gain for the 25k will be 3,900 feet.  See maps and Garmin info at the bottom of this post for more information on the course.

50k Info: Same start time as 5 mile (10am).  Cut off will be at 6 pm, or 8 hours total.  Runners who are not starting loop #6 before 4:40pm will not be allowed to continue.  Sorry, no early start.  The 50k distance will be 6 repeats of the 5 mile course.  The 5 mile course is just over 5 miles, so the 50k will be almost exactly 31 miles.   Runners will climb up Alger Alp and descend back into the parking lot at Squires Lake Trail head where there will be an aid station and they will get "Checked off" for each loop they do by aid station volunteers. This means there will be an aid station every 5 miles.  You may leave a drop bag at this location.  The elevation gain for the 50k will be 7,800 feet!  Pretty sweet, huh?  See maps and Garmin info at the bottom of this post for more information on the course.

Aid: No aid for the 5 mile distance during the race, but we will have plenty of post race refreshments.  The 25k and 50k will have an aid station every 5 miles at the Squires Lake Trail head (start/finish).  For the 25k and 50k, we will have a yummy post race meal.

MAPS: You are responsible for knowing the course.  We will mark the course very well with ribbons and signs, but there is always the possibility that someone will tamper with markers, you might run past a key turn, or that you might still come to an intersection where you are unsure how to proceed. Studying the maps can keep you from getting off course on race day!
ABOVE: map of the Squires Lake Trails and the route up Alger Alp.  This is NOT a course map, but it does show you the way runners will go up the mountain, to the top of Alger Alp in the 5 mile course.

Please note that the 5 mile course map does not have the climb to Alger Alp mapped on it.

Here is my Garmin info.  Please note that I enjoyed some of the scenic overlooks, the best map to determine the course are the maps above.  The Garmin info will give you a good indication of the elevation change.
For the 5 mile: 1,300 feet gain.  For the 50k: 7,800 feet gain.
